St Luke's Memorials: Key
Below are the codes used in the lists of memorials, describing the position, construction and appearance of the monuments.
The codes are shown in the Key column and comprise three numbers followed by three or more letters.
Number codes
These describe the approximate position of each inscription in the church or churchyard and are a rough guide only. Each number is composed of three digits. The first digit denotes a section. There are seven sections, in clockwise direction round the church starting from the right of the Lychgate, facing the church:
- Southwest section
- Northwest section
- North of the church
- Northeast section
- Southeast section
- South of the church
- Church building itself
The final two digits denote the number of the memorial in that section.
